2.

Howdo I get connected to the Internet using the iTegno GPRS Modem?
There are two ways to connect to the Internet - via GSM or GPRSconnection.

GSMconnection:
Youneed an Internet access account with an ISP (Internet ServiceProvider). In addition, you may need to subscribe to relevant services(e.g. data services) for your SIM card from your networkprovider.

GPRSconnection:

Checkwith your mobile network provider to activate GPRS service on your SIMcard. If the mobile service provider offers ISP access, you may notneed to apply for another Internet access account. Dial-up settings forGPRS connection may be obtained from the network provider.

3.

Isthe GPRS automatically available with GSM service?

No.The normal GSM network needs some modification before it can supportGPRS. As such, the availability of GPRS service depends on whether theindividual telecommunication company has upgraded its network. Also, touse the GPRS service, the SIM card has to be enabled with it.
4.Whyisn't my Chinese SMS translated correctly on iTegno Mobile OfficeSuite?
Thisis most probably due to the incorrect language settings.
Tocorrect this, open iTegno Mobile Office Suite application.
Goto
1.Settings
2.Language
3.Select the desired language
4.Click Save to save the changes.
5.Restart iTegno Mobile Office Suite to let the changes take effect. Fornon-Chinese Win XP users, please uninstall Asia Service
Park (Please refer to the next question for furtherinstructions).
5. Howdo I uninstall Asia Service Pack if I am a non-Chinese Win XP user?
Uninstalling the Asia Service Pack will allow iTegno Mobile OfficeSuite to properly translate Chinese SMS.
To do so, please go to
1. Control Panel
2. Regional and Language Options
3. Select Language tab.
4. Uncheck 'Install files for East Asia Language'.
Itis highly recommended that users install a Chinese Language WordProcessor such as NJStar to allow Chinese SMS to be properly displayedin iTegno Mobile Office Suite.
6.TheiTegno Mobile Office Suite's UI was not displayed correctly after Ichanged the Language setting to Simplified or Traditional Chinese.
TheiTegno Mobile Office Suite works best if the selected language is thesame as the Windows default installed language. However, you shouldstill be able to send and receive Chinese SMS on iTegno Mobile OfficeSuite with its content translated correctly.
7.MySIM card is GPRS auto roaming enabled.
a. Do I still need to make any changes to the dial up connection when Igo overseas?
b. Is there anything else that I should be aware of before I gooverseas?

a.No. You need not make any changes to the dial up connection when youare overseas.
b.If your SIM card is GPRS auto-roaming enabled, you should be able toconnect via GPRS seamlessly. Before you go overseas, kindly contactyour local mobile service provider for the list of GPRS roamingpartners at the desired location.
8.CanI send a message consisting of more than 160 characters? How manymessages will I be charged for by my network provider?

3.

Howis the iTegno GPRS Modem different from a mobile phone in enablingthe notebook computer wirelessly?

Powerconsumption
TheiTegno GPRS Modem draws power from the laptop via the USB cable, while Bluetooth or Infrared connections would draw power from thatdevice itself. Also, a notebook computer has a large powerreservoir, about five times as much as a mobile phone.

USB Connection

Usingan USB connection ensures that the battery life of the notebookcomputer is not significantly affected. The fact that the mobile phonehas grown such in its importance that people need it all the time, andthe iTegno Modem frees up the mobile phone for its very importantvoice-centric functions within its limited power capacity; the productis an ideal complement to the busy executive’s communicationneeds.

TheUSB cable connection is compatible with all most notebook computers, personal computers, and mobile terminals. For mobile phoneconnections, a proprietary cable has to be purchased whenever the userswitches to another brand of mobile phone.
Asfor infrared connections, the stability of line of sight for theinfrared interface makes this option inconvenient for mobileprofessionals. The user would need to ensure that both devices -the mobile device and the terminal (notebook, PC etc.) - are equippedwith an infrared port. However, mobile phones and notebookcomputers are increasingly disposed of this option.

Durability

TheiTegno GPRS Modem is a durable, hardy device. This is madepossible with its USB connection, and all its components including theantenna, are protected by an external casing which is capable ofwithstanding the impact caused by a drop from table height. There arealso no loose components in the modem.

4.

Isthe iTegno GPRS Modem just another dedicated modem?

No,the iTegno GPRS Modem is more than just a modem! The iTegnoMobile Office Suite application which comes with the package allows theuser to perform many functions that are typical of a mobile phone, suchas sending/receiving SMS and managing address book entries, just toname a few. Technology

1.

Whatis GPRS?

GPRSrefers to General Packet Radio Service. GPRS is charged based on theamount of data transferred rather than by airtime. This service isideal for mobile professionals with a need to maintain an“always-on” Internet connection without incurring hefty GSMairtime charges. For example, once your emails have been downloaded orsent, there are no further charges—even if you are stillconnected to the Internet - as no data is being transferred.

I'm just a newbie in creating a config... Please check if i'm wrong on the
other parts
cause in sending http get i used a normal html (see below)...
but i dont see anything that i receive it on logs (smsbox.log and kannel.log)
i'm totally confused on reading the user manual... hehehe... I'm not so good in
english
but i'm about 70% sure on my config based on manual....
Please please help me
